Meet the Berlin Team:

Programme Director, Social Media Week, and
Community and Communications Manager, Deskwanted
Julianne Becker is a filmmaker and communications specialist, originally from the US. She moved to Berlin from Vietnam, where she worked as Film Advisor for WWF Greater Mekong and Communications Manager for WWF Vietnam. Her work has led her to far reaches of the communications realm, from trecking through dense rain forest with camera in tow to organizing large scale national events in Vietnam. After less than one year in Berlin she has quickly delved into the cultural scene, developing and leading projects, as well as writing for various organizations.

Coordinator, Social Media Week
Sophie Gratter is a cultural organizer from Paris. She moved to Berlin about 5 years ago for her studies and has been living between Paris, Berlin and Melbourne since. She worked in many fields such as fashion (Galeries Lafayette Berlin), music (Resident Advisor Berlin and Clan Analogue Melbourne) and …real estate! She is a music fan and a travel addict. Sophie is a digital phobic and didn’t have a Facebook account until she started organizing SMW.

Logistics Coordinator, Social Media Week
Matthias Laminski is an architect and event manager. For the past five years he has worked in Berlin for event design and organising international festivals and cultural events around the world, such as film screenings, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, parties and concerts.

For five years she worked with a brand consultancy in Ireland managing communications for corporate and cultural clients. Since coming to Berlin in 2011 she has been involved in the conception and production of arts and music events, as well as managing independent creative projects both on and offline.

Volunteer Coordinator, Social Media Week
Amelia Shroyer is a marketer and translator originally from Dallas, Texas. With a background in Political Science, she has worked with state legislatures in Texas and Massachusetts. She is also a French/English translator for TED Conferences, LLC. Since relocating to Berlin from Ardennes, France in July, Amelia has quickly become involved with the social marketing scene. Highly interested in the tech startup mentality and corporate use of social media, Amelia has joined the SMWB team as volunteer coordinator.
