This is the third in a series of posts zoning in on the various cities of Social Media Week September 2010 and taking a look at the exciting things going on there.
Following the release of the Buenos Aires schedule last week, here’s a spotlight on three headline events taking place during Social Media Week in Buenos Aires this September 20-24.

Crisis Management On The Web
This talk will examine the role of the community manager when the online conversations put a brand’s image at risk. What should and should not be done? Questions will be answered including when is it better to avoid confrontation? when is it best to answer? How valid is the phrase “dont feed the troll”? What role does a community manager play when a crisis affects the brand online and offline? This conversation will feature Gonzalo Rosado, community manager for movies and and TV series for Turner Broadcasting.
Effective Geolocalization Marketing for Brands
We now see trends that the social web is going to the real world, and the dynamics of marketing changes when both worlds merge thanks to geolocation. What are the implications of services like Gowalla, Foursquare, and Facebook Places? How deep is their real impact among the Argentinian market? Other than deals and coupons, how can a brand make the best use of these apps? Participants include Pablo Vittori of Delapalo Labs.
Social Application Development
A two-part workshop beginning with basic concepts for Facebook App Development and use of the Twitter API, including the use of the platforms, type of apps that can be created, programming languages that can be used.
In the second segment of the workshop, we will talk about scalability, framework integration, what can and cannot be done, and we will build an app live, explaining the new functions of the Facebook’s social graph API and the Twitter API. Lead speaker for this session will be Matias Paterlini, founder of AltoDot.
