We’ve got big news on all fronts!
We’re excited to announce that the next Social Media Week will be taking place September 19-23 in 12 cities simultaneously. We are continuing to accept city applications and will be announcing the initial line up of cities in the coming weeks.
In other news, in the weeks following Social Media Week 2011, our Global Team has been brainstorming on how to leverage the unprecedented enthusiasm and excitement seen throughout the week to continue to engage participants between conferences.
Over 30,000 physical attendees participated across 9 cities in more than 600 individual sessions graced by over 1800 speakers. Online, over 80,000 unique visitors watched sessions via livestream and over 180,000 people came through socialmediaweek.org leading up to and during the conference.
Throughout the week, we heard attendees reflect on the role, impact, and potential of social media across industries. Social Media Week was created to inspire and drive these conversations, making it important that they continue even after the conference is over.
To facilitate this, we’re in the process of building out a global media platform that will showcase innovation, news and analysis around what’s happening in social and mobile media across the globe.
We are now actively recruiting a Global Editorial Team to help lead this new endeavor.
We’re asking participants to contribute 2-3 posts a week (in English) that highlight news, analysis, or commentary on social and mobile media developments from their native countries. In addition to being at the forefront of an unprecedented international initiative, contributors will also receive exposure to our global audience with readers in over 100 countries.
We are looking for thought leaders, innovators, and social media enthusiasts from across the world to participate.
