Twitter is beginning to roll out a “Buy” button in its Twitter Cards, allowing users to purchase items within Tweets on their phones and desktops. According to Twitter’s blog post introducing the new feature, “After tapping the ‘Buy’ button, you will get additional product details and be prompted to enter your shipping and payment information. Once that’s entered and confirmed, your order information is sent to the merchant for delivery.”

Just about 30 merchants are included in this first “Buy Now” phase, which include Burberry, Demi Lovato, DonorsChoose, Eminem, The Home Depot, Keith Urban, Pharrell, Paramore, (RED), and several others. Twitter has partnered with four payments companies for the “Buy” feature. Fancy, the social shopping company; Gumroad, the digital content seller; Musictoday, the fan commerce company; and Stripe, the payments company.

Check out the video from twitter below to learn more about the new in-Tweet payments feature:

Some of the “Buy Now” Tweets will be merchandise and offers that you can find across the Internet, but Twitter also mentions you will see offers and opportunities to purchase items that you can’t find anywhere else but Twitter. Combine this exclusivity with on-the-spot and in-app functionality, and you might see an entirely new flood of commerce-based Tweets rolling through your feeds in the near future. Ultimately, the new feature aims to help merchants build stronger relationships with buyers and fans, while also helping users discover new merchandise and sellers on Twitter.
