The Internet was hugely effective in connecting people of all sorts. From forums to email to Facebook and Twitter, it has made communication more instantaneous and accessible. And now, objects enter the stage. I can literally talk to the computer that is my phone. I can figuratively talk to the car down the street. My thermostat can talk to my weather station. And if you listen right, you can hear it chatter away, too.
Objects are signing onto the internet, and us humans are already in the minority. But what does it mean when objects socialize? And can objects be social? This talk will provide a look into the Internet of Things and discuss how it changes our interaction with the world in very real terms.
