Launching Borderless Brands: Providing Unique Perspectives in Global Brand Communications

 

Recently we shared some details about a new global initiative for Social Media Week, which we said would be launching soon. We are excited to announce that that program, the Borderless Brands initiative, will launch tonight with a kick-off event at JWT featuring participation from leading speakers at Facebook, GE, PepsiCo, AOL, and SapientNitro.

What is it? Borderless Brands is a new program that aims to provide global marketers with unique perspectives into how social media is impacting global brand communications.

Taking place during Social Media Week (Sept 19-23), the Borderless Brands experience will take a group of senior executives who will be invited to participate in a week-long tour of three international Social Media Week cities. Over the course of the week they will meet and engage with media & technology innovators around the world who are shaping the future of social and mobile media.

This launch event  tonight at JWT Worldwide brings together CMOs and senior brand marketers on both the agency and client side, will to explore an understanding of the Borderless Brands concept through the following topics:

  • What it means to build a truly borderless brand in today’s shifting communications landscape?
  • What is the role of social & mobile media in brand building & global communications?
  • How does a global brand harness the collective power of consumers for brand building and fan engagement?
  • How does a global brand defend and protect itself in the new borderless arena?
  • How should brand teams working across geographic borders organize their internal communications?
  • How does a global brand communicate its core message across culturally diverse markets?

This event will begin with a presentation called “Achieving Digital Fitness in a Borderless World”, by Bonin Bough , Global Director of Digital, PepsiCo. Following Bonin’s presentation, the featured panel, “Borderless Brands: Social Space Exploration” will begin.

Social Media Week’s second annual conference will take place between February 1st – 5th, 2010 simultaneously in New York City, Berlin, London, San Francisco, Toronto and São Paulo. The five day conference will explore the profound impact that social media has on culture, business communications and society at large.

The week-long, international Social Media Week conference is designed as a network of localized events that span a variety of formats, ranging from talks, presentations and panel discussions, to interactive workshops, seminars, networking events and drinks receptions.

Conferences in each city are organized by Social Media Week event partners. The companies an individuals behind these events are some of the top thinkers, practitioners and entrepreneurs who are leading the way in emerging media industries.

The full program of events for each city will be published in the coming weeks.
