Social Media Week comes back to the Windy City for its second year, and topping off the week filled with sessions, panels, speakers and activities will be the Official Opening Night Party, hosted by Rockit Ranch Productions and CEO Billy Dec.
In its second year, the Opening Night Party will be held at Rockit Bar & Grill (22 W. Hubbard St.), beginning at 8pm on Monday, September 24. The event, like all Social Media Week activities, is free to attendees.
“As a top U.S. city, Chicago is a perfect fit to host Social Media Week,” said Dec. “That’s why it was an easy decision not only to serve on the Advisory Board again, but to offer up a great Chicago location to host the Official Opening Night Party this year and engage with smart, social media savvy Chicagoans and participants from all over. We’re sure they’ll enjoy the party and the entire week of great stuff that’s been planned.”
The night, like the rest of the week, promises to be filled with social media activity to drum up excitement. A live Twitter feed featuring the #SMWChicago hashtag will be prominently displayed to showcase the stream of conversations and photos during the party. Guests will also be able to announce their locations on Foursquare for special check-in deals throughout the night.
Also coinciding with the Opening Night party will be an announcement by one of the week’s sponsors, Nissan, who is offering a one-week loan of an all-new 2013 Nissan Altima for the Social Media Week participant with the most retweeted tweet using the #SMWChicago hashtag.
