Nokia Social Innovation Lab
Nokia

Design Council
Wednesday, February 15 at 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
This year at SMW London, Nokia will be paying homage to four individuals who have turned the everyday into something amazing.
In this social media lab, you’ll get your chance to soak up some inspiring stories about starting a business, working for a cause, doing good or turning an idea into a successful career…all with the help of a little social media (of course).
The aim is to put people in front of you that don’t talk about what they’ve learnt in social media, but what they’ve done.

Andre Campbell
Andre Campbell FRSA is an award winning start up founder, consultant and public speaker living in the City of London. Andre has dedicated his life to entrepreneurship, international development and working with young people for the past 5 years. At 16 he started his A levels at a Jesuit college famous for its motto ‘being a man for others.’ Here he learnt first hand the values of adopting this motto and was selected to work closely with a number of ministry groups and as a peer mentor. This has acted as a solid foundation for his leap into the world of enterprise and international development. After leaving college, Andre read Economics at Kingston University London where he discovered his passion for entrepreneurship and international development. He was chosen by OYIP to represent the U.K at a conference in Sydney and was subsequently chosen to sit on the Oxfam Youth Board in his first year at University. Andre brought a fresh perspective to youth board activities that he has also demonstrated in his other voluntary endeavours, combining entrepreneurial instinct and a genuine concern for social justice with an open mind and international perspective. Andre founded his first start up, Enfuse Youth, a youth education consultancy that aims to improve the lives of young people through a process of training, mentorship, and opportunities. In 2008, the company raised seed capital from UnLtd in order to launch the company and has worked with several high profile clients across the U.K such as the BBC, DTT, Facebook, SOLA amongst others. https://twitter.com/#!/andre_campbell https://twitter.com/#!/EnfuseYouth http://www.enfuseyouth.com/
Jess Ratcliffe
Jess Ratcliffe is young and ambitious and is the genius behind the successful video games swapping website GaBoom! She had a vision for her business at the age of just 10, when she used to swap video games with neighbors and friends. Since then, Jess has worked non-stop in making her vision a reality. GaBoom.co.uk has been running since July 2010 and attracts a range of ages with the most active members being aged 10-30 years old who can join online for free. Members simply list the video games that they want and the games that they have and GaBoom will match them together to make a swap or sale. Jess has ensured that GaBoom has two secure postage options through which members can send their games to one another. There is a never-ending list of games for the most popular consoles with the members on GaBoom, the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.“I personally have an Xbox 360 and love it!” Jess said, who admits to swapping games on GaBoom too, which saves her money!Jess’ aim is to provide gamers with a place where they can swap their video games as quickly and efficiently as possible and become the number one video game swapping website in the UK. https://twitter.com/#!/jessratcliffe https://twitter.com/#!/GaBoomSwap http://www.gaboomswap.com/
Becky Straw
The Adventure Project is a non-profit organization established to increase investments in positive social enterprises around the world. Founded in 2010 by Becky Straw & Jody Landers, who met while traveling through Liberia, West Africa. They have joined forces to raise awareness and funds to support the world’s most-effective social ventures. Life was perfect until she got the travel bug in college. Becky toured the major monuments before heading off-the-beaten-path to volunteer with orphans in rural Romania. Realizing just how blessed she was, Becky decided to dedicate her life to finding solutions to end global poverty. She went back to school and got a Master’s in International Social Welfare & Social Enterprise. She then spent three years helping to launch the non-profit, charity: water, from couch to conference room. Working in Haiti and throughout Africa, Becky has seen enormous potential for sustainable development through the power of enterprise. Becky lives in Brooklyn, NY. https://twitter.com/#!/beckystraw https://twitter.com/#!/Ad_VenturePro http://beckystraw.com/ http://www.theadventureproject.org/
