With an estimated five million images uploaded every day, Instagram is fast becoming the photo sharing platform of choice. And if submissions from Social Media Week’s Instagram Your City competition are anything to go by – capturing inspiring, real and insightful images of a city is a popular theme.
This is perhaps the thinking behind This Is Now – a new website which filters content using geo-location tags to create a real time visual stream of your chosen city, using the Instagram API. Users are able to view images live as they are uploaded on the site, as well as scrolling through photos that have been uploaded throughout the day – delivering a user generated snap shot of the city in question. Something cool happening in your city? Imagine the impact This is Now could make with some combined Instagram usage.
This Is Now currently offers an Instagram stream of just five cities, including Sao Paulo, New York, London, Sydney and Tokyo, with expansion to more cities said to be in the works. We’re hoping a Glasgow stream appears in time for Social Media Week…what sort of pictures would that provide? It’s all down to you.
