Social Media Week Glasgow: A Selection of Events #1

We can’t believe it’s less than two weeks to go to Social Media Week Glasgow. Are you ready? Did you book your events? Too much choice? Well, we have the same problem :) and we will count on you and our fantastic volunteers to cover as many of them as possible with blogs, tweets, videos, photos, and so on.

We thought that a selection of some the events that are happening through the week would be useful. We will be writing more of these to help you with your choice, focusing on events that will be running under the three main themes of the week: Education, Health & Wellbeing, and Access.

However, our first selection for the series has no particular focus on any of the themes, we picked some of the most innovative initiatives and some of the official events that are taking place through the week, including our opening and closing events.

Please don’t forget to register for the events you want to attend, they’re great events and your participation and input will make them even better. Plus, they’re totally FREE – No excuses, go to #SMWGla Schedule and get booking!

Five Easy PiecesMon to Fri – 12:00-12:30 – Various Locations

Social Media Week’s ‘Five Easy Pieces’ series will see curatorial talks, within Museums across Glasgow. These events look at five items drawn from the extensive Glasgow Museums collections. Each will have historical significance to empowering change through collaboration. Each event will be accompanied by a podcast and will include expert commentary and comment for the Glasgow Museum Curators. You can participate in the debate and comment through the social channels and learn more about how collaboration has brought about change and influenced our collective history. The series will kick off on Monday 24th with Emily Malcolm, Curator of Transport and Technology at the Riverside Museum, who will give a talk on the 2012 bicentenary of Henry Bell’s steamship, The Comet.

The event will end around 16.45 with some networking drinks and ice cream.
