Social Media Week is a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. The global mission is to help people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information.
Glasgow first welcomed Social Media Week in September 2011. It was an overwhelmingly creative and fun week, with a lot of events, projects, initiatives put up by all of you! At its second year, the Week is set to be an even bigger success, and once again it will be especially down to you, you can all contribute to it and in many ways! We’re looking for event partner, sponsors, volunteers, speakers, and first of all we’re looking for people with great ideas to help us make of SMWGla a very innovative and fun experience for everyone! We have produced some cheat sheet on some key topics, please find them below:

SMW Glasgow: how we do social
We use our social media outlets, namely Facebook, Twitter, G+, YouTube, to communicate with people who are interested in what we do, and to share knowledge and resources that we think may benefit all the community.
Our aim is to respond as quickly as possible to the questions and queries people raise through these channels, both during office hours and outside (though we’ll likely to reply more slowly to queries sent during evenings or at weekends because we are actually human . We can’t promise to respond to every comment, query, question we receive, particularly nearer to the week. If we haven’t replied and you need us to, please contact us via e-mail and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Please don’t be offended if we don’t ‘like’ you on FB or ‘follow back’ on twitter, or G+ you or subscribe to you. This doesn’t mean we don’t like you or are not interested in what you do, it’s just that sometimes it can get very busy and difficult for us to manage all the interactions. Our intention is to try and follow back at least everyone who follows us on twitter so that you can DM us. If we don’t follow you and you want us to, please @ us a quick request
We try to share or retweet information that we think will be of interest or use to people interested in using Social Media ultimately to “empower change through collaboration”, a wide theme that can actually include anything that has to do with Social Media. Occasionally, we’ll also support charity campaigns. For the same reasons stated above, we won’t be able to retweet and support every campaign, but please feel free to post links on our FB page so that it’s visible to all our fans.
However, bear in mind that it’s important that we remain impartial and we don’t endorse any commercial or marketing campaign that will benefit a private business. So please avoid posting (or asking us to share or RT) links to commercial deals, advertisements, promotions, marketing campaigns that fall out of not-for-profit domain.
We reserve the right to remove any contributions that break the rules stated above, or any posts that is harassing, defamatory, abusive, obscene, racially offensive, sexually oriented, distasteful, pure spamming, libellous, supporting any political party/candidate.
Thanks for understanding!
