Social Media Week Hamburg is proud to announce Ben Scott as Keynote Speaker in 2012. Ben Scott is invited to Hamburg’s Social Media Week by the U.S. Consulate General Hamburg.

Ben Scott is Policy Advisor for Innovation. In a small team of advisors to Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, his work is focused on technology and foreign policy. Together, they steward the 21st Century Statecraft agenda of the Department of State, which emphasizes on the use of new tools like technology, social media and development.

Before he joined the Department of State, he led the Washington office for Free Press for six years. Free Press is the largest non-profit organization in the US which is focused on media and communications policy.

He holds a PhD in communications from the University of Illinois. He is the author of several scholarly articles on American journalism history and the politics of media regulation as well as co-editor of two books.

SABINE EWALD works with hi-life planning and realizing music and culture events and did PR work for a public visitor’s centre in Hamburg. For the fifth time Sabine will be Director of Social Media Week Hamburg in 2016, the social media conference hosted by hi-life. Being enthusiastically involved in cultural life and urban development both in private and in her job, she has been rooted in Hamburg for nine years now. After her media, film and culture studies in Germany and GB she worked in the press department of a classical music festival and city marketing.
