[impactasia reports] Social Media Week Hong Kong (SMWHK) has been taking place this week (8-12 Feb) with a series of more than 35 exciting events across the city. It marks the first citywide event dedicated to discussing emerging trends in social media and how they impact society and business. Many media are excited by SMWHK mania too! See what they have said about SMWHK:
my903.com, the official website of Commercial Radio Hong Kong Channel 2, has been keeping its listeners happy with the latest news of SMWHK every day. South China Morning Post; Young Post, the local major print media, scored an interview with Casey Lau, one of the Advisory Board members. With his strong background and working experience over the years in social media platforms, Casey is undoubtedly a digital guru. He shares his insights on the future trends of the digital world, and advises how the youngsters can fully utilise the opportunity provided by online platforms to showcase their talents.
SMWHK also catches the attention of Marketing Magazine, Asia‘s leading source of advertising, marketing and media intelligence. Social Media Week is brought to Hong Kong by its City Partner impactasia, a leader of Asia’s independent creative Public Relations agencies. Sarah Woodhouse, the Group Managing Director expresses that hosting SMWHK has given impactasia the confidence to put their stake in the ground and create a digital division.
YouTube fans can check out the video clip from Marketing Magazine with Blake Chandlee (Vice President & Commercial Director APAC, Latin America & Emerging Markets) expanding on the effects brought by Facebook to enterprises and revealing the future expansion plan during the SMWHK Opening Press Gathering.
The Wall Street Journal Asia, SMWHK’s Exclusive City Headline Sponsor, covers the debut of SMWHK and analyses the developing trends of different social media in the City. According to Jocelyn Liipfert, Account Manager of impactasia, the Public Relations agency has signed up to be the City Partner of SMWHK because they see the social media landscape in Hong Kong should grow far beyond the current scene of Facebook dominating.
The Opening Press Gathering of SMWHK held on 8th February, was a huge success. Campaign Magazine recapitulates the speeches of the four heavy-weight speakers including Blake Chandlee, VP of emerging markets for Facebook, Olivier Legrand, general manager for Asia at Wall Street Journal Digital Network, Frank Rose, contributing editor to Wired Magazine and author of The Art of Immersion, Rudi Leung, director of communication planning at AGENDA Asia and a prolific Hong Kong blogger. SMWHK certainly has a symbolic meaning to engage social media users in pushing its movement in Asia.
Other media like Sina Hong Kong, ComputerWorld Hong Kong, eTravel Blackboard, whatsup.asia and News Blaze are all watching out for SMWHK!
Watch for more media coverage for SMWHK in the next few days!
