- Personalization of news production and consumption. The paradigm shift in the media sector from broadcast media to social media.
- The rise of location based social media: The last steps towards complete fusion between the digital world and real life.
- The ever-increasing numbers in social media penetration, especially for Turkey. (which has the highest Facebook penetration in Europe)
3. Who will be collaborating with you to help make Social Media Week happen in your city?
Besides the advisory board, we are going to work with major candidate collaborators as well as web journalists, entrepreneurs, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters from all kinds of different industries – especially media, entertainment and technology. Furthermore, we are planning to work with Galatasaray University and Bilgi University, two of the most prestigious universities in Turkey.
4. What were your reasons for wanting to bring Social Media Week to your city?
Acknowledging the cyber space as a new layer of communication to this centuries old meeting ground, Istanbul.
5. What three things are you hoping to gain from hosting Social Media Week?
Bringing a sense of togetherness that grow out of the world wide web, sharing our collective experiences to have a better future.
