It is no surprise that Jeddah was chosen this year to be one of the many international and global cities participating in Social Media Week. When we decided to have Jeddah be one of the two cities in the Middle East -besides Doha- to cater to SMW in September 2012, we knew what we were getting ourselves into. We are offering and serving the hungry social media fanatics and advocates the information that they strive for.
I have lived in Jeddah for many years now, it has become my home; not because I got used to it, but because of the warm-welcoming its locals are known for, because of the mixture of cosmopolitan cultures and nationalities that you meet everyday, and definitely because although it is approximately 3,000 km2, and is home for more than 4,000,000+ locals, Arabs, European, Asian and American people, you still notice that Jeddah is a small town where almost anyone knows everyone, and word travels quickly!
In the coming weeks and months, we will be sharing with you, our readers, followers, and attendees, more information and scoops on what topics, themes and insights will Jeddah’s SMW have, but all I can say for now, is that SMWJeddah will cater to anyone and everyone; males, females, businessmen and businesswomen, social media philanthropists, communication and media executives, utility experts, fashion lovers, trend bloggers and much more.
Throughout Social Media Week Jeddah, from September 23- 27, we will try to cover almost any topic that has a past, a present and certainly a future in social media. Our aim is not only to raise awareness on how social media is an essential marketing channel that no one can ignore anymore, but also to bridge the gap between our three targeted communities; the social media experts, the organizations in need or with experience in social media, and the individual social media fanatics.
