Director of Sponsorship & Media Sales

Role Description
Through direct sales efforts and collaboration with our partners in more than 20 international markets, the Director of Sponsorship and Media Sales will sell creative media solutions, branded content packages and sponsorship to brands, agencies and technology platform companies.

This position will be focused largely on our largest media property Social Media Week and be based New York City, but will also cover Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and other parts of North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of sales and business development strategy and plan
  • Collaboration with global and local sales counterparts as needed on opportunities that represent integrated revenue building opportunities
  • Maintenance of CRM database consisting of client and prospect companies
  • Presentation of regular activity/contact reports and revenue pipeline estimates
  • Development of customized and creative sales proposals

Desired Skills & Experience
The individual will have experience in media and sponsorship sales, preferably in both digital and experiential marketing.

Project Lead: Brand Partnerships

Role Summary
Social Media Week is a media and conference platform with events in 20+ cities around the world, dedicated to capturing, curating and sharing the most meaningful ideas, trends, and best practices with regard to the social web’s impact on society, culture and business. As part of Social Media Week, our agency creates marketing programs on behalf of major brands, including Nokia, Google+, American Express and Ford.
We’re looking for a seasoned, outside-the-box achiever with account experience to join the Social Media Week team as Project Lead for one of our major accounts.

The role will focus on project managing the partnership of our biggest client, which includes overseeing the execution of brand deliverables and will include creative strategy, community outreach and engagement, advocacy and blogger outreach, social media management, event design, planning and execution.

This is a four month project-based position with an opportunity for longer term hire.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multi-city global partnership with company’s largest client, including client management and execution of brand deliverables
  • Creative strategy (brainstorm event and campaign ideas)
  • Liaising with key client members, including organizing meetings, virtually and in-person
  • Identify and secure complementary organizations for partnerships
  • Advocacy and blogger outreach
  • Coordinating with SMW and client communications teams on client announcements distributed across relevant social channels
  • Working with Design & Production team to coordinate client branding
  • Managing outreach and follow-up with sponsors and partners post-conference, including preparing post-event wrap-up reports
  • Staying ahead of the curve with all client initiatives and industry trends

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Have at least 5+ years experience account management experience working with Fortune 500 brands
  • Be someone who understands (and is passionate about) the importance and impact of social media and technology, from both a consumer and industry perspective
  • Be highly capable of identifying vital industry developments and translating them into compelling opportunities for clients + Have an ability to define upfront goals and track KPIs with clients to ensure success and drive renewals
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  • Be effective communicating across multiple teams to project manage client success deliverables
  • Be outgoing and comfortable working with multiple personalities and styles
  • Have a working knowledge and passion for social platforms and an understanding of the value of social for brands
  • Be someone who knows how to appropriately insert fun and a lively spirit into a serious business work environment
  • Be a true whiz at presentations (PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi, etc.)

This position will be full-time, based in NYC and begin in early May, with the potential for longer term renewal.

Sales & Business Development Manager

The Role
The Sales & Business Development Manager will provide essential support to the Director of Sales & Business Development globally and also lead much of the sales effort in New York and parts of North America. Responsibilities include:

Communications and Marketing Intern

The Role
Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas, innovations and insights into how social media and technology are changing business, society and culture around the world. We also reimagine how human connectivity and technology will come together to change the ways we live, work and create. Along with Social Media Week, our agency, Crowdcentric, creates experiential, editorial, and marketing programs on behalf of major brands and clients.

We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Intern to join us in the Winter and Spring to work on a variety of projects, including (but not limited to):

Editorial
Contribute articles and content to our global and city-specific blogs. We cover news stories, emerging technology, entertainment and culture, human connectivity, and many other topics in and around the industry.

Marketing
Support the Director of Marketing with communications and marketing efforts such as creating newsletters, social media marketing, developing media partnerships, and reporting analytics and insights. Additionally, you will assist the marketing efforts for Crowdcentric, the B2B agency that produces Social Media Week.

Programming
Support the Director of Programming with outreach and planning for our New York conference in late February. You will help reach out to potential speakers, event partners, and industry influencers. You will also contribute to the programming of our New York conference, and work behind the scenes on event production and management throughout the week of events.

Event Coordination
Leading up to, during, and after our February conference, you will help coordinate on-the-ground logistics for sponsors, volunteers, speakers, and attendees. Experience the fast-paced energy of a major New York conference with thousands of attendees throughout the week.

Public Relations & Promotions Manager (Contract Position)

General Job Description
The Public Relations and Promotions Manager, under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, supports Social Media Week by securing ongoing media coverage of the events, programs, partners, speakers and projects across multiple platforms, including TV, radio, print, social media, and online media, to generate abundant, positive press and high awareness among attendees and potential attendees for Social Media Week’s events, sessions, and programs in the community.

This individual will be responsible for writing, editing, and ensuring the timely flow of information to the media through press kits, news releases, media alerts, and pitch communications. The Public Relations and Promotions Manager serves as the primary contact for all media outlets.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: serving as copy and content developer and editor for publicity and marketing materials; coordinating news conferences and other media events; utilizing blogs, social networking sites, and emerging media for marketing communications; and developing and managing promotions with the media and local organizations and businesses to raise awareness of and increase attendance for Social Media Week events; update and maintain media database for local, regional, and national press, and other local VIPs; analyze and compile monthly media coverage reports.
