About Social Media Week
Social Media Week is a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. Our mission is to help people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information.
Social Media Week hosts two global conferences each year. Each conference takes place simultaneously in multiple cities around the world, with thousands of individuals and organizations working together to host panels, workshops, talks and industry networking events.
We are looking for a number of new editions to the team, specifically brilliant people who believe in our mission and people who have a passion for how technology is reshaping the world around us.

Community & Editorial Manager: Internship
The Role
We are currently looking for a temporary intern to support our Director of Communications. The Community Manager intern will assist in the day-to-day management of Crowdcentric and Social Media Week’s (SMW) social media communities and fan engagement to ensure a vibrant, engaging, and rewarding experience for the global community. This role will assist in research, analysis, proposal writing, editorial, management of Crowdcentric and SMW’s social media presence, and other tasks identified by the Director of Communications.
The Community Manager will be a highly motivated individual with a fanatical passion for social media and community, technology, social media trends, and innovation in the digital and social space to help grow the company.
Main Responsibilities:
Campaign Delivery: coordinating creative executions for landing pages, default graphics, and other elements within online communities
Social Media Strategy: Understanding our objectives and the ability to assist with the crafting of custom, effective strategic plans to meet goals.
Community Management: day-to-day community management, audience engagement, page and content moderation, and general outreach.
Content Seeding: Seeding approved content and editorial pieces to key influencers and other identified sites and blogs.
Research: basic spot research as needed in order to engage the community and to investigate any trending activities within the SMW community.
Technology: being able to use our licensed applications for community management, research and Marketing Intelligence, as well as staying current with new technological trends within the Social Media space.
Analysis: taking data from research and performance analytics and being able to help create reports for Crowdcentric that draw conclusions on performance and providing recommendations for campaign optimization and recommendations.
Brainstorms: being involved with team brainstorms to help craft Social Media and viral campaigns
Proposals: being able to assist with, and write proposals as needed for Social Media Week and viral campaigns
General Requirements:
- A thorough understanding of Social Media and outreach tactics
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Able to verbally articulate analysis and research concepts to both creative team and clients
- Highly preferred if candidate physically attend community management strategy meetings twice a week in our NY office in the Meatpacking District.
Internship: Product Development
The Role
This is NOT your typical coffee getting, faxing, and filing internship position. The Site Operations / Product Intern position is expected to contribute to the team day one, helping execute on our product launch testing and marketing strategy, and working directly with our product team to improve our site. The intern position will work under the direction and supervision of Crowdcentric’s Chief Operating Officer. The Site Operations /Product Intern will be an integral part of our marketing strategy and will help execute upon various marketing campaigns both on and offline, including social network marketing, event productions and promotions, and community development. Additionally, the Site Operations / Product Intern will become an integral part of product development by providing feedback and making recommendations across our product line.
The ideal candidate must possess the following requirements:
- Outgoing, social, fun, enjoy meeting new people.
- Independently self motivated, reliable team player with strong initiative.
- Works well with others in a high-intensity, fast-paced, and rapidly-changing environment.
- Participate in various marketing campaigns including Crowdcentric and Social Media Week community development, social network marketing optimization, offline event promotions and affiliate program development.
- Help optimize and participate in Crowdcentric operations sessions.
- Execute user-based site testing and deliver feedback to product team.
- Functional understanding of the web and extensive use of various social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Linked in and Youtube.
- Functional understanding of WordPress install platforms, in addition a basic understanding of HTML / CSS.
- Remain updated on signifiant market trends throughout the internet, specifically the social networking realm.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal skills).
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Highly proficient with Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Highly preferred if candidate physically attend community management strategy meetings twice a week in our NY office in the Meatpacking District.
Internship: Event Management & Creative Strategy
The Role
In this role you will work closely with the SVP, Client Strategy to create and implement creative strategies for our clients and global sponsors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Event Planning and Coordination
- Support on planning and organizing all aspects of Crowdcentric/Social Media Week conferences, meetings and events including speakers; program details and materials; and event proceedings.
- Coordinate Crowdcentric / Social Media Week online events (webinars, videocasts).
- Maintain relations and support communication with our Global Partners
- Coordinate event speakers and organize presentations.
- Assist in event management and coordination.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director with establishing budgets.
- Track events Crowdcentric is invited to attend/exhibit/present or would benefit from doing so.
Program and Events Development
- Assist with Identifying and cultivating event curation across all participating Social Media Week participating cities
- Work with Communications Director and other staff to gauge the diversity and quality of global events.
