Summer Internship Program

The Role
Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas, innovations and insights into how social media and technology are changing business, society and culture around the world. We also reimagine how human connectivity and technology will come together to change the ways we live, work and create. Along with Social Media Week, our agency, Crowdcentric, creates experiential, editorial, and marketing programs on behalf of major brands and clients.

Editorial
Through SMW we cover news stories, emerging trends, entertainment, culture and the role of technology in human connectivity, and more This aspect of the role will require the person to research article ideas, find external articles to re-publish and write original content.

Marketing
Support the Marketing and Communications department with responsibilities and efforts such as creating newsletters, social media and content marketing, developing media partnerships, and reporting analytics and insights.

Sales and Sponsorship
Identify potential new business opportunities through research, client outreach, sales deck development, and partnership outreach. You’ll receive a behind-the-scenes look into how branded content and on-site conference activation deals are arranged, planned, and executed, both online and offline.

  • Writing and editing articles around the media and technology industry
  • Experience with business development, sales decks and sponsorship materials
  • Knowledge of social media marketing, both with content and analytics
  • Familiarity with media and technology news, key players in the space, and Internet language
  • Someone who understands how content builds a loyal, organic audience.
  • Ability to brainstorm and identify sponsorship opportunities around existing and new business initiatives
  • Sense of (Internet) humor is a plus!

Public Relations & Promotions Manager (Contract Position)

General Job Description
The Public Relations and Promotions Manager, under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, supports Social Media Week by securing ongoing media coverage of the events, programs, partners, speakers and projects across multiple platforms, including TV, radio, print, social media, and online media, to generate abundant, positive press and high awareness among attendees and potential attendees for Social Media Week’s events, sessions, and programs in the community.

This individual will be responsible for writing, editing, and ensuring the timely flow of information to the media through press kits, news releases, media alerts, and pitch communications. The Public Relations and Promotions Manager serves as the primary contact for all media outlets.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: serving as copy and content developer and editor for publicity and marketing materials; coordinating news conferences and other media events; utilizing blogs, social networking sites, and emerging media for marketing communications; and developing and managing promotions with the media and local organizations and businesses to raise awareness of and increase attendance for Social Media Week events; update and maintain media database for local, regional, and national press, and other local VIPs; analyze and compile monthly media coverage reports.
