Social Media Week is a worldwide event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. Our mission is to help people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information.

Social Media Week hosts two global conferences each year. Each conference takes place simultaneously in multiple cities around the world, with thousands of individuals and organizations working together to host panels, workshops, talks and industry networking events.

As we continue to expand we are looking for a number of new editions to the team, specifically brilliant people who believe in our mission and people who have a passion for how technology is reshaping the world around us.

Director of Sponsorship Sales

The Role

Social Media Week’s mission is to capture, curate and share the most meaningful ideas, trends, and best practices with regard to the social web’s impact on society, culture and business. Through direct sales efforts and collaboration with our partners in more than 26 cities worldwide, the Director of Sponsorship Sales will sell sponsorship and creative strategy solutions to brands, agencies and publishers.

This position will be based New York City, but will also cover Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and other parts of North America.

Responsibilities include:

+ Development and execution of sales strategy and plan
+ Collaboration with global and local sales counterparts as needed on opportunities that represent integrated revenue building opportunities
+ Maintenance of CRM database consisting of client and prospect companies
+ Presentation of regular activity/contact reports and revenue pipeline estimates
+ Development of customized and creative sales proposals

Qualifications/Skills

The Crowdcentric team operates in a fast moving, lean and highly collaborative way. Package

The compensation package will be made up of a base salary, plus a commission bonus based on individual and team revenue performance.

Account Manager: Brand Partnerships

Role Summary

Social Media Week captures, curates and shares the most meaningful ideas, trends, and best practices with regard to the social web’s impact on society, culture and business.

In addition to news, publishing and research, hosting conferences in 26+ cities around the world each year, Social Media Week also creates marketing programs on behalf of major brands, including Nokia, Google+, American Express and Ford.

With a focus on program activation, the Account Manager: Brand Partnerships would work directly with the Director of Partnerships to ensure seamless execution of all brand partnerships.

Specific Responsibilities:

+ client management and executing brand deliverables
+ creative strategy (brainstorm event and campaign ideas)
+ liasing with key clients & partners, including organizing meetings, virtually and in-person
+ advocacy and blogger outreach
+ coordinating with SMW Communications team on client announcements including tweets, facebook updates etc. for the communications team
+ working with Design & Production team to coordinate client branding
+ managing outreach and follow-up with sponsors and partners post-conference, including preparing post-event wrap up reports

Qualifications/Skills

+ Have at least 3-4+ years experience in account management or sales working with Fortune 500 brands
+ Be someone who understands (and is passionate about) the importance and impact of social media and technology, from both a consumer and industry side
+ Have an ability to define upfront goals and track KPIs with clients to ensure success and drive renewals
+ Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written
+ Be effective communicating across multiple teams to project manage client success deliverables
+ Be outgoing and comfortable working with multiple personalities and styles
+ Have a working knowledge of social platforms and an understanding of the value of social for brands
+ Be someone who knows how to appropriately insert fun and a lively spirit into a serious business work environment
+ Be a true whiz at presentations (Powerpoint, Prezi, etc)

This position will be full-time, based in NYC and will run for approximately 3 months, beginning July 1, with the potential for longer term renewal.

Chief Technology Officer / Lead Developer

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on creative technologist with an entrepreneurial flair to join the senior Crowdcentric team in the role of CTO/Lead Developer. The position will focus on leading a range of product related initiatives including development and ongoing maintenance of existing technology platforms, tools and systems and management of third party technology vendors, partners and freelance contractors.

This position will be based in NYC and can begin immediately.

Responsibilities include:

+ Collaborate with team to build and maintain a stable and high performance technologies and platforms
+ Manage contracted UX designers, developers and QA teams
+ Assist in strategic planning of future iterations of site and features
+ Optimize and manage systems and databases
+ Plan, prototype, and implement new product concepts and features
+ Assist with technical hiring as team grows

Specific responsibilities include developing, managing and/developing the following core products:

+ SMW RealTime (dynamic infographic, analytics and visualization tool)
+ Global Registration System (Manages event submission and attendees registration across all 28+ international markets)
+ Official SMW Mobile App (Manages schedules, speaker info, content publishing etc)
+ Social Media Week publishing platform

Qualifications/Skills:

Specific skills and experience:

+ 5+ years professional software development experience
+ 5+ years in managing IT and web projects
+ Experience in agile programming environments that promote testing and documentation
+ Hands-on working knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL Database (mySql), WordPress Multi-user Install
+ Strong understanding of Git and other web tracking tools
+ Advanced in standard project management methodologies
+ Experience of managing teams

Package

The position is full-time starting as soon as possible. The compensation package will be made up of a base salary and may potentially include equity ownership in the form of options.

Sales & Business Development Manager

The Role

The Sales & Business Development Manager will provide essential support to the Director of Sales & Business Development globally and also lead much of the sales effort in New York and parts of North America. The role includes customizing and selling creative sponsorships for Social Media Week New York targeting agencies, brands and technology service providers.

Summer Internship Program 2013 (July & August)

The Role

Forget doing coffee runs, restocking the office refrigerator and other mundane office tasks. We are currently seeking a team of fun, enthusiastic and committed summer interns to actively contribute to a number of different projects during the months of July and August. Prepare to hit the ground running! You’ll acquire real work experience doing large-scale event production and marketing, in addition building a set of skills from the list of categories below. Responsibilities May Include:

+ Sales Strategy & Business Development:
-Generate new sales leads
-Build comprehensive list of digital-related brands
-Contribute to trend analysis & big data projects
+ Community Management:
-Manage public SMW email accounts & public inquiries
+ Event Programming & Development:
-Support the programming team in the process of event curation and organization
-Support event partners and manage event submissions
+ Event Production:
-Contribute to variety of media projects (video, powerpoint presentations, etc.).
+ Digital & Marketing:
-Contribute to long-term international marketing campaigns
-Assist with crafting marketing and digital plans to meet organizational goals
-Organize key marketing assets
-Identify key influencers, tourist boards, and trends
+ Product Development:
-Execute user-based site testing
-Maintain and moderate webpages
-Provide ideas and feedback for product lines

General Requirements:

+ Be outgoing, social, fun, and enjoy meeting new people
+ Work well under pressure in a high-intensity, fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment
+ Have strong attention to detail
+ Be self-motivated and reliable
+ Possess a functional understanding of the web and extensive use of various social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Youtube, and WordPress
+ Have a basic understanding of HTML / CSS
+ Exhibit strong communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal skills)
+ Be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Google Docs
+ Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
+ Work respectfully and collaboratively with others
+ Highly preferred if candidate physically attend community management strategy meetings twice a week in our NY office in the Meatpacking District.
