Social Media Week is a leading media platform and event with global reach across five continents, including Africa, North America, South America, Europe and Asia that explores the social, cultural and economic impact of social media. Twice a year (in February and September) the week long conference and festival is held in multiple cities across the globe simultaneously. The short answer is YES. Event submission is open to people and companies with fresh ideas. On average 70% of our programming is submitted and produced by the public. Students, filmmakers, technologist, journalist, executives, agencies, corporations, start-ups, musicians, charities and artist, among others are all invited to participate. The deadline to submit an event for SMW Lagos 2014 is December 6, 3013.
Social Media Week accepts everything from the more traditional formats like Solo and Dual Presentations, Panels and Interviews to more unconventional structures like, Hands on Workshops, Group Conversations, Q&As, Meet Ups, Parties, Mixers, Demos, Concerts and Hack-a-thons. You choose the most appropriate format for your idea… as long as it is relevant, the more original the better!

Blatantly advertorial content is NOT allowed at SMW. Audiences prefer compelling and engaging content that serves the greater good. We have no interest in sales pitches disguised as information. That is not to say that audiences do not look to SMW for the latest new media products and services. There is a place for that. Attendee Registration for the February 2013 conference will begin on January 15, 2013.
