Shareonomics: The Rise of The Social Economy

We are still working on the overall theme for Social Media Week, but our first thoughts are to build a theme around the existing and future impact that social is having on the world.

It is transforming the way businesses are run, creating new business models and industries, acting as an agent of change for entire countries, underpinning charities and helping create some of the worlds biggest brands. What’s more, at a time when there are huge concerns around the state of the global economy, here in San Francisco and the Bay Area, social media and social technologies has created a mini hot house of an economic activity.

We hope that Social Media Week in San Francisco in 2012 is going to help drive a discussion about the value that social brings to a whole range of industries and organizations.  At the heart of this value creation is the notion that social media makes the process of collaboration and sharing things almost entirely frictionless.

You just need to look at the latest round of Facebook announcements to understand the potential impact on businesses if people start sharing more and more actions as they go about their daily lives at work and at home. The sharing economy is here to stay.

We coined “shareonomics” as a new term to describe the value – whether economic, human or relationship – created through the act of sharing content. As such, the working title for the theme for Social Media Week in San Francisco and the Bay Area is: Shareonomics: The Rise of the Social Economy.

We all learned what positive values sharing makes
possible by using tools like facebook, twitter Google docs and the like. Now we
are ready to take a new exciting step and share our physical items. Our items
are left isolated in this all connected world that’s why we built a social
network for it. Check it out:
