Making the Most of Social Media Week San Francisco

As we rapidly approach SMWSF, we thought it’d be a good idea to share some advice on how to make the most out of this event-filled week.

1. Register, register, register!

Events are filling up quickly, so the most important piece of advice is to register ahead of time to ensure a spot is available for you! You can still show up at events without registering, but it’s highly recommended. If you haven’t already, please register for events here.

2. Download the mobile app

SMW Global have released a mobile app which allows you to track and add favorite events, speakers and venues. You can also register for events, and monitor twitter feeds, stats and live conversations from global media sponsors. The Social Media Week Mobile App is available for Nokia, iPhone and iPad. Android and Windows to come.

3. Invite

Social Media Week can be the most interactive and informative week of the year, but we need your help to make that happen! Tell friends, colleagues, and business partners about the events. Encourage them to attend with you, or watch the livestreams. All events are free, and what’s better than free networking and knowledge?

4. Overshare

Tweet, post, check in, snap photos, write; basically overshare in any way you want! This is Social Media Week, so share your experience with your networks and the entire social world.

5. Network

Aside from attending SMWSF to learn about what’s new, working, and not working in social media, you are attending to network. Come prepared with business cards, goals to achieve by attending, and a fun professional attitude. Along with the day time events, we have happy hour networking as well as a closing party to fully take advantage of this opportunity.

After weeks of careful consideration, we’ve chosen art gallery and event space 111 Minna, located here in the heart of San Francisco, as the location for our Social Media Week closing party on Friday, February 17th.

More details about the party and other events coming soon!

Do you have an idea for an event or session during Social Media Week? Remember to submit your ideas by mid-January for a chance to be featured in our stellar line up.

And It’s a Wrap… #SMWSF

Social Media Week San Francisco has come and gone, and we have a lot more media to get produced this weekend before we can officially wrap it all up here, but I wanted to take a few minutes to thank everyone who came out to the events and made Social Media Week a big success. We learned a lot across the week, at the camp, at workshops, at panels and even yes, in bars and living rooms. We closed the week with a bang last night at a terrific closing party where everyone was enjoying great conversation and a great time at 111 Minna… best of all, in the name of social media for social good, Mashable, Social Media Club and Bing were able to throw a party that also raised $1800 for NetSquared!

Thanks to all the other event organizers who were able to connect across our collective communities to coordinate this week full of events. Next year, it will be even bigger in San Francisco and all across Social Media Club cities! Stay tuned for all the content from the week, but for now, enjoy some of the photos that were taken throughout the week.
