Voting for the Finalists Ends February 15th at 5:00. Vote Now!
Capitol Communicator, the news and online resource for communications professionals in Washington, D.C. and the Mid-Atlantic region, is proud to announce the first ever “DC Band Together” competition, event, an evening of music, socializing, and philanthropy.
Professionals working in advertising, marketing, communication, or media who love playing music are encouraged to get together with friends and co-workers, form a band, and start submitting online applications in anticipation of this special event! Applicants are being invited to send audition videos or audio recordings through February 8, 2013. Semi-finalists will be announced between February 11 and 15. Popular voting, combined with the judges scoring, will determine finalists who will battle it out at a culminating celebration taking place during Social Media Week DC on February 21, 2013 at Penn Social in downtown Washington, D.C.
Finalists will perform in front of a live audience and will be rated by a combination of audience and judicial voting. Legendary Washington, D.C. radio DJ Cerphe Colwell will preside as Master of Ceremonies. Cerphe began his broadcast career with WHFS in 1973, and has since been a staple of the Washington area music scene.
Proceeds from “DC Band Together” benefit Food & Friends, a Washington, D.C. based humanitarian organization specializing in bringing meals to people with life-threatening illnesses throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District. Prizes will be given to the winner including a recording session, music video and much more.
“The Washington area is home to some of the most creative, social and caring people I know. Combine these two qualities with a touch of competition—and top it off with the proceeds going to a good cause—and you have the makings of one great event during Social Media Week,” said Capitol Communicator Publisher and Co-Founder Paul Duning.
