Obama didn’t just win the election, he also won the honor of having 2012′s most retweeted tweet, but what if his predecessors could weigh in? If Polk, Grant, Harrison or Lincoln could tweet, would it be an all out Twitter war for Followers and RT’s? Better yet, what would they say? What would our nation’s inspiring leaders and revolutionaries think of a culture where Honey Boo Boo is influential? There’s no way of knowing for sure, but we’ll try to make our former presidents proud by creating historic parody social media accounts for several of them.
Follow along to see how our former presidents would have fared in 140 characters or less at twitter.com/HKSDigital/follow-the-leaders. You can also follow the individual profiles below:
These profiles will be active leading up to, and during Social Media Week. But the fun doesn’t stop there. Hinged on modern digital humor, we’ll host a trivia night to test your knowledge of these not-so famous presidents. Social media junkies and politicos alike will battle it out in several rounds of presidential trivia questions, with answers derived from the newly minted social accounts for past presidents.
Don’t worry if your political knowledge isn’t up to par, participants will be encouraged to search Facebook and Twitter for the right answer. And if you just sent your first tweet last week, no problem. Only a basic understanding of the platforms is required. At the end of the evening, prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.
