Every industry has them – the people whose lifestyles and brands are stuff of legend, whose rockstar personal brands are so strong their social media platforms are endlessly #FOMO inducing. And though the role of personal branding has long been an important element of career development (just ask Salvador Dali, Michael Jordan, or Bill Nye the Science Guy), social media is rapidly changing how we develop our personal brands.
Guided by a small team of savvy devil’s advocates from diverse industries, the full group of attendees will be participate in dynamic and potentially raucous discussion about how social media is changing the role of personal branding. Participants will first hear from the devil’s advocates about the role personal branding has played in their careers (what do you mean, you trademarked your own first name?!) before launching into a larger dialogue. The discussion will also offer the opportunity for participants to ‘workshop’ their personal brands with the group, ask questions, and present potential problems for the group to address together.
Devil’s Advocates include…
Kate Warren (@GoKateShoot) – Founder/Photographer of GoKateshoot (Photography, style)
Dr. Eric Schulze (@scienceric, @thirstDC) – Co-founder/Creative Director of Thirst DC (Science)
Tré (@tregallery) - Fine Artist and Director, Tré Inc. and Touchstone Gallery (Fine art)
Simon Owens (@simonowens) - PR Director for creative agency Jess Eye, current ASM for digital U.S. News and World Report.
Of course, since this is focused on showing off your personal brand, don’t hesitate to get sartorial and stylish if you’re so inclined, and dress up a little!
