Audience Development Team: Direct Sales

Role Description

Our Audience Development team is responsible for driving ticketing and subscription revenue by reaching out to individuals and organizations in our industry who are either interested in attending SMW conferences or subscribing to our SMW Insider video streaming platform.

Reporting directly to the COO, Audience Development team members are highly driven, results orientated and passionate about social media, marketing and communications.

They are outstanding communicators and are equally comfortable engaging with prospects on on the phone, by email or in-person.

Specific responsibilities include

  • Prospecting: Search for and identify new prospects based on specific criteria using LinkedIn and other prospecting tools
  • Outreach: Set up, manage and execute direct outreach campaigns to prospect list
  • Engagement: Respond to inquiries and responses and convert prospects by email, phone and in some circumstances in-person

Specific qualifications and skills required

  • 1-2 years professional work experience, ideally in a sales, marketing or customer facing role
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A hunger to learn and ability to flourish in a dynamic, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution

Package

We are looking to hire in a full-time capacity. The compensation package will be made up of a base salary, plus a bonus based on individual & team performance.

Ecommerce PHP Developer

Role Description

Develops PHP and CMS-based solutions, assists our VP of Design & Technology in requirements gathering, and web project planning. Demonstrate leadership by finding / developing new technologies and methods to advance the company’s offerings.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop plugins and applications to extend our ecommerce solutions within a WordPress Multisite environment
  • Scope, requirements gathering in improving, extending, and improving how users submit event and speaker data to our platform
  • WordPress API solutions in improving the way our 3rd party partners pull and push data from our vast database

Specific Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented PHP back-end development.
  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, and Foundation.
  • Experience with MySQL and writing SQL queries.
  • Experience developing plugins and building themes for WordPress Multisite.
  • Setting up e-commerce applications such as WooCommerce
  • Contributing to project scope conversations with development team, project managers, designers and other developers
  • Assisting with development of large PHP-based projects, as needed
  • Participating in regular company-wide and team meetings
  • Contributing to best practices; recommending, exploring and implementing better ways to deliver exceptional finished products

Portfolio Requirements

  • Development of WordPress websites
  • Development of HTML websites utilizing responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap and Foundation
  • Integrating feeds from social networks
  • Integrating with third-party APIs (CRM Integration experience a plus)
  • Customizing WordPress to support specific functionality by writing custom functions and/or plugins

Sponsorship Sales Manager

Role Description

The Sponsorship Sales Manager will work closely with the rest of the Conferences team to identify and bring on new sponsors to the SMW flagship program, including SMW Chicago, SMW New York, SMW LA and SMW London.

Experience Required

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the SMW brand and the industry we operate in
  • Understanding and experience in event operations and sponsorship sales
  • Experience using sales automation and CRM tools
  • Ability to create sales reports and manage tracking and analytics

The Sponsorship Sales Manager must also have a passionate for social media and emerging technology, be relentlessly persistent, a true collaborator with a magnetic personality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage direct sales outreach working within SMW’s prospecting and sales automation process
  • Package, price, negotiate and sell and support the activation of sponsorships for SMW’s flagship events
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external contacts

Specific Qualifications and Skills Required

  • BS/BA in Marketing or related field
  • Minimum 4 years experience at a small to mid-size professional services organization
  • 2 years experience in a specific sales or account management role
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A hunger to learn and ability to flourish in a dynamic, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment

Package

The position is full-time starting August 1st. The compensation package will be made up of a base salary, plus a commission bonus based on team performance.

Editorial

Through SMW we cover news stories, emerging trends, entertainment, culture and the role of technology in human connectivity, and more This aspect of the role will require the person to research article ideas, find external articles to re-publish and write original content.

Marketing

Support the Marketing and Communications department with responsibilities and efforts such as creating newsletters, social media and content marketing, developing media partnerships, and reporting analytics and insights.

Sales and Sponsorship

Identify potential new business opportunities through research, client outreach, sales deck development, and partnership outreach. You’ll receive a behind-the-scenes look into how branded content and on-site conference activation deals are arranged, planned, and executed, both online and offline.

  • Ability to brainstorm and identify sponsorship opportunities around existing and new business initiatives
