Social Media Week Adds Hong Kong To February 2011 Program
Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.
Social Media Week is pleased to announce that it has added another location to the program of its upcoming February 2011 global conference, the great city of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong will be the first Asian city to take part in Social Media Week and is the eighth city to be added to the February 2011 program, joining New York, San Francisco, Toronto, London, Paris, Rome, and São Paulo. City partners for Social Media Week Hong Kong are impactasia, a local PR agency with offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore.
Sarah Woodhouse, Group Managing Director of impactasia commented, “Social Media Week provides a global platform to raise the profile of Hong Kong’s exciting social media scene as a crossroads between China and the West. Understanding the differences between social media platforms in the mainland and the rest of the world is key to understanding Hong Kong‘s digital landscape, and this is one element we hope to bring to the forefront at Social Media Week Hong Kong.”
Hong Kong is unique to the overall Social Media Week mission in that it leads the organization’s expansion into Asia as well as putting on display one of the most culturally, socially and politically unique cities in the entire world. Due to time zone effects and the end of Chinese New Year, this event will take place on February 8-12 rather than February 7-11 as in the other Social Media Week cities.
Social Media Week conferences all over the world rely on community support and involvement, and both organizations and individuals who are interested in creating their own event are encouraged to GET INVOLVED by registering on the Social Media Week Hong Kong website or to contact impactasia directly.
An initial event program will be available early December, and registration will open in early January 2011. More information on the Hong Kong event is available on the Social Media Week Hong Kong website, at socialmediaweek.com/hongkong.
