Jyotika Malhotra, “Editor-in-Chic” of, is at it again!

Malhotra, who is no stranger to Social Media Week Toronto (SMWTO), has been working on an interesting series of integrated programs with students from the School of Fashion and the Ted Rogers School of Retail Management over at Ryerson University.

So far, two events have been scheduled to take place on February 7th over at SMWTO titled The Evolving Role of Social Media in Retail, (where students and industry experts discuss how Twitter, Facebook, etc. changed the way retailers connect with their customers) and Educ@te Me: Social Media and Higher Learning (a discussion that will explore the use of social media both inside and outside the classroom). As you are checking out these events, don’t miss FuRRR Real: A Design Challenge Exploring Canada’s Heritage and Global Responsibility — a very unique virtual challenge that will be available to view throughout the week.
FuRRR Real follows the development and creative process of Ryerson University School of Fashion design students as they explore the opportunities of re-purposing, re-fashioning, and re-educating Canada’s legacy of the fur trade over the last 350 years.
Documenting their challenge on YouTube, Twitter and blogs while staying on par with ethical, responsible, and the sustainable mindset of today’s consumers, the students capture their journey as they transform existing fur garments into innovative and exciting new fashion pieces.
