We’re getting close to SMW13, and couldn’t be more excited. As we put all the finishing touches on events and activities with our partners Nokia, we know it’s going to be an incredible week! We’ve introduced you to New York’s Brad Spikes and Copenhagen’s Henriette Povlsen. Now, we’re traveling over to Milan for you to meet Alessandro Cusmano. Get to know him a little more with us!

Ale, how long have you been with Nokia? What gets you most excited about your work with Nokia?
I joined Nokia about two years ago and I’ve been working in different roles within marketing so far. Working at Nokia is all about exploring new ways to communicate and engage with people, that’s what I like the most!

What Nokia campaigns would our supporters in Milan be familiar with?
For sure they are familiar with our #switchtolumia camapaign, which combines the broad reach of traditional media such TV and the power of new media. A truly 360 degree campaign!

What are some of the unique characteristics of the culture of mobile in Italy?
The smartphone adoption is growing very fast in Italy, and this is, of course, causing a big shift in user behaviors. Being “always on” is nowadays normal for a large share of the population and social media are one of the main driver of this new habit.

What’s your favorite feature of the new Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices?
I love the super sensitive touch screen, especially now in winter time. When I’m snowboarding I can keep my gloves on and play with my Lumia saving my hands from the cold wind. That’s a huge benefit!

This year, Nokia is focusing on providing charging stations and keeping Italy powered up during SMW13. How else can attendees engage with Nokia during February?
In February, there will be plenty of possibilities to engage directly with Nokia. In Milan, we will be present at SMW13 covering different topics, from imaging to navigation to app development. Nokia is entering as a heavy player with mobile photography and is powering some great activities for February, including our PicYourCity contest with amazing shots from Milan. Can you tell us a bit more about the perks of the Lumia camera and why Nokia is taking on photography?
The imaging part of Nokia Lumia is simply stunning. You can take perfect pictures in low light conditions and shoot a video as a pro even if your hand is shaking, thanks to the optical stabilizer. But it’s not just a matter of great hardware. The exclusive apps that come together with Nokia Lumia make your life much simpler when it’s time to take pictures: you will never miss the whole panorama nor you will see never more closed eyes in group shot. You can even add a kind of magic to your pictures with Cinemagraph…

What are you most excited about for mobile in the years ahead?
Mobile has already started to change our lives but I think much more is coming next years, when mobile broadband adoption and new mobile device capabilities will push the “always on” and “sharing” concepts even further than now.
