Activate Your Entrepreneurial Calling Through Crowdfunding: Advice from Sharon Chang
Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.
We are excited to announce the first round of leaders who will bring our 2020 theme HUMAN.X to life at our global conference in New York on May 5-7.
During next week’s CROWDFUNDx conference, we’ll be tackling myriad issues entrepreneurs, founders and small business owners & leaders encounter. We want the day to help empower small businesses, startups and social enterprises. Which is why we’re pulling together some of the great leaders in business and entrepreneurship.
“It’s exciting to see so many young people passionately pursue world-changing ideas. Being an entrepreneur is more of a calling than a career – every person’s journey is unique and challenging. When you learn how to lead with purpose and humility, amazing talent and resources will follow.” – Sharon Chang
Sharon Chang has the benefit of wearing many hats, as a media executive, brand strategist, social entrepreneur, and impact investor, which makes her perfect to speak at CROWDFUNDx NYC. Originally trained as a designer and architect, Sharon served as former Chief Creative Officer of 19 Entertainment, the company behind American Idol. She is now the Founder of Yoxi (www.yoxi.tv), a media organization that discovers and elevates social entrepreneurs by leveraging their expertise for shared value business opportunities.
At CROWDFUNDx, Sharon will help steer the perspectives of Mint Digital’s Tim Morgan, who led the team that created the successfully crowdfunded tiny instagram projector project, Projecteo; Miki Agrawal, whose company THINX used crowdfunding to launch both a product and their social impact mission; and Matt Brimer of General Assembly, a community and education platform that serves as the base for many creative, innovative, and passionate thinkers and makers. Together, the group will discuss Entrepreneurs and Business in the Age of Digital Empowerment.
These thought leaders will tell you not only how entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the crowd to launch their ideas, but also how crowdfunding has jump started their business and accelerated growth. We won’t just highlight theoreticals but give you concrete case examples that you can use for your own company. It’s a session you’ll want to be at — one that will help you share your journey with your investors, supporters and community.
