Wunderlist

It can be hard to remember everything when you’re shooting and Wunderlist is an awesome app that is perfect for creating tasks and lists and also setting reminders. Additionally, it is easy to share which means you can work together with your acting compatriots, a director or anyone else in the production easily. It’s fast, it’s very useful and it’s completely free.

SpeakEasy Voice Recorder

The SpeakEasy Voice Recorder costs a few dollars but it’s an excellent app and records to a very high level of clarity, which is very important. If you’re the sort of person who likes to remember your lines from playing them over and over again, it can be a great addition and help you improve your acting skills. We also think the FiRe is worth a mention – this app is around $10 but is professional standard and used by audio professionals the world over.

ProPrompter

Need a portable teleprompter? This fantastic app is used by many in the industry and is excellent to ensure you don’t forget a particular line and are kept up to date with script revisions. The great thing about this is its portability. It means you can practice and keep up to date with lines anywhere and can even bring it along to shoots.

Actor Access Mobile

A pretty expensive app, however one that could really pay off when you land that big role of your dreams on Broadway. Actor Access Mobile makes it easy to submit yourself for acting roles on the fly. Sure it’s pretty pricey but it could pay off.

iPerform

An app that just manages your whole acting career – what more could you want. iPerform tracks everything from auditions, to bookings, to expenses to industry contacts and compiles it into a lovely tidy app that’s right at your fingertips.

IMBd

The go to app for searching all sorts of different acting, film and movie related information. IMBd is the bible of show time information.

Rehearsal App

This app is also perfect for those that find it hard to recollect all their lines. Rehearsal app is perfect for getting you back on track as it allows you to highlight lines at the sweep of a finger, as well as make them disappear with a swipe – perfect for ensuring your know them. It also offers the option to record lines via audio and play them back.

Netflix

Perfect for a little bit of research – well that’s what we’re telling ourselves while watching the fifth episode of the new series of Orange is the New Black anyhow. It can also be used for downtime.

The world of acting will never truly change as what’s valued tends to stay somewhat the same, however the way that we can go about learning, exploring and creating can change and tech is at the centre of this. These great apps are perfect for actors looking to make their lives easier and aid them to take their skills to the next level.
