One of the most common mistakes people had of Snapchat was its difficulty of connecting people with each other. Adding your friends, favorite social media celebrities, local influencers, and everyone in between was not the easiest thing to do.
You’ve probably seen personalized “Snapcodes” that brands and individuals can promote, but this is a fairly tedious process as well, requiring users to screenshot the code or scan it like a QR code.
Snapchat wants to make adding friends and other people easier, so they’re introducing personal URLs for users to share on the web with friends and followers. If you tap a personalized Snapchat URL on a mobile device, you’ll automatically add that person to your Snapchat friends.
Many people and brands use their Snapcode image as a Twitter avatar or other profile picture, but we might see more people use their new Snapchat URL as the link on their Twitter and Instagram bios
You have to upgrade to the latest version of Snapchat to get your personalized URL. Once you’re up to date, open the app and drag down from the camera view. Then, tap “Add Friends” and at the bottom you’ll see a new option called “Share Username.”
