Mobile continues to play a dominant role in Facebook’s revenue, strategy, and overall success.

Facebook’s first-quarter revenue in 2016 was $5.4 billion, and 79 percent came from mobile advertising (via Re/code).

Beyond revenue, Facebook also added 60 million new individuals over the course of Q4 in 2015, making the current grand total of users around 1.65 billion. Nearly all Facebook users access the platform from a mobile device as well.

This past February at Social Media Week in New York, Facebook’s Head of Marketing for North America, Michelle Klein, discussed the future of communications and what Facebook is planning for the next few years. Here’s one of her insights from that talk:
