Facebook’s Chief Product Officer Chris Cox to keynote SMW Lagos
Chris Cox leads Product Management, Design, and Marketing functions globally for Facebook, and is responsible for the core products and features that shape the social experience for the over 1.7 billion people who use the platform every month.
When Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg visited Nigeria last year, it marked his first business trip to sub-Saharan Africa. As a result, many say his visit put the country’s tech businesses and community in a global spotlight.
Zuckerberg visited the country’s capital and technology hub, Lagos, which is one of Social Media Week’s most popular conference cities. It’s even referred to as Nigeria’s Silicon Valley. Social Media Week is about to kick off in Lagos for its 5th year, and we’re thrilled to welcome yet another prominent Facebook executive to join our Lagos community to explore the future of media: Chris Cox.
Chris is Facebook’s Chief Product Officer, and he will take the stage at #SMWLagos on Monday, February 27 to talk about the ways that media is changing, especially the shift to video.
While he is in Lagos, Chris will also hear from developers, content creators and entrepreneurs who are building amazing things to see where Facebook can continue to help. He’ll listen, learn and take ideas back to California on how Facebook can better support tech development and entrepreneurship across Africa.
Recently, Chris played a key role with some of Facebook’s latest announcements, including the Facebook Journalism Project and Facebook Stories. His impact on Facebook’s products and the billions of people that use them seems to grow more and more each year, and he quickly became a key figure for Zuckerberg and the entire Facebook organization soon after joining the company in 2005.
