Virtual reality and 360° video is one of today’s most talked about subjects in the media and technology space. The technology is starting to change so many other industries too, such as gaming, entertainment, medicine, journalism, real estate, shopping, travel, fitness, and much more.

One of the companies investing quite a bit into the current and future state of VR is Facebook. Not only did they acquire Oculus and now have that business as part of the Facebook family, but they’re also working on new ways of distributing and formatting virtual reality in our feeds. For example, Facebook and National Geographic recently partnered to run the first ever live, 360° video.

In addition to Facebook, many other companies are pioneering the VR space, from global technology companies to local startups, and at #SMWNYC, Megan Summers, who runs production globally for Facebook’s Creative Shop team, explored new storytelling principles and languages in the age of VR, 360° Video and the News Feed.
