Facebook Live videos now make up 20 percent of video on the platform
Over the past year, daily watch time for Facebook Live broadcasts has grown by more than 4x.
We are excited to announce the first round of leaders who will bring our 2020 theme HUMAN.X to life at our global conference in New York on May 5-7.
“Live videos work well if they’re simple, original, and engaging,” said Andy Dangerfield of BuzzFeed UK at Social Media Week London back in September of 2016.
While the live video space has many players and products, such as Periscope, Facebook Live, Instagram Live, YouNow, Houesparty, live.ly, and many others, one from this list is starting to emerge as the leader… Facebook Live.
According to Facebook’s Head of Video, Fidji Simo, “one in every five Facebook videos is a live broadcast – and over the past year, daily watch time for Facebook Live broadcasts has grown by more than 4x.”
Recent news and updates to Facebook Live
At the beginning of the year, Facebook announced several new updates to their live video experience, which included the ability to go live from your desktop computer, guest contributors to take over your Page’s live video, advanced insights, cross-posting from multiple pages, and a few other things that marketers should know.
As Facebook continues to invest in the Live Video experience, both for individuals and brands, the overall video landscape will only grow as well. At our recent Social Media Week conference in New York, we heard from Michelle Klein, Facebook’s Head of North America Marketing, explain their vision for marketers, content, and how much video will be in our lives.
