Social Media Week São Paulo, the largest digital communication event in Latin America, returns this September 10-14, 2018.

This year’s event will feature 270 activities in 7 simultaneous rooms on the 2 ESPM campuses in Vila Mariana with local support from brands like IBM, Hotmart, Grey, Visa, A&E, Lifetime, History, Eventbrite, and ESPM.

We spoke with their team about the upcoming event, what sessions they are most excited about, and some of the topics they will discuss during the week.

What do you think will be the most important attendee takeaways from your city’s SMW conference?

You can follow in the same event the newest communication tactics, the most effective business strategies and the gains of all the new technologies surrounding social media. Besides the 270 activities, you’ll be in touch with other 6 thousand professionals excited to engage with each other.

We have new exciting tracks like Cause Marketing, Diversity and Digital Journalism. We also bring some amazing updates about AI, Data & Chatbots. We also have a hands-on Design Thinking Workshop to solve complex communication problems.

What are some sessions that your team is excited about?

It’s really hard to pick a few among the 270, but “O poder da exclusão” is going to be amazing. It’s a panel about how a lack of diversity create barriers in the market and how three powerful black women create their paths to success. It’s time to feature how distinct perspectives can help any business to survive.

Another aspect of SMW São Paulo that we are excited about is a trackfeaturing some of the most influential social media experts in Brazil.

MLabs created a content track in our schedule about how SMB companies can use social media to shine in the market, some of the most amazing speakers are here. You’ll be inspired and learn practical stuff at the same time.

Another track I would like to feature is that one that focuses on how AI changed social media. Artificial Intelligence will be represented at SMWSP thanks to IBM and you don’t need to be Watson Customer to enjoy those learnings!

How do your overall agenda tie into this year’s global theme?

We keep bringing people closer each year, we have thousands of attendees, but a lot of small sessions where speakers can discuss with a very interested audience that picked previously that activity and wasn’t just passing by.

We also understand how customization is important to growing business, so we have a lot of panels about how chatbots and AI create personalized experiences that preserve our individuality.

Getting people Closer sometimes mean finding a cause or purpose, we have a lot of panels discussing cause marketing and diversity and how this can create conversations.

On a darker note, we are also discussing fake news and haters, bringing people together does not mean bringing peace all the time.

What are some local trends you are seeing in your market?

Chatbots, Influencers, new technologies to find and manage micro-influencers, AI, and causes because all brands are betting in purpose to rise above the crowd.

What are some of the key questions that will be addressed during your edition of SMW?

We understand that technology changed the game forever, that’s why chatbots, AI and Data are present on our sessions, but technology without strategy do not work. So a lot of discussion about new consumer, cause marketing, diversity and other social trends will help our attendees to address their needs to plan their 2019 strategy.
