This year, with the global theme, “STORIES: With Great Influence Comes Great Responsibility,” SMW Coeur d’Alene will bring its unique perspective into the power of storytelling in changing how people think and act, and our responsibility to use this influence for the greater good to the discussion table.

We sat down to speak with the organizers of SMW Coeur d’Alene about the forthcoming event, what sessions have the most intricate ties to this year’s theme, which partners and brands they’re most looking forward to working with, key questions that will be addressed in their specific SMW edition, and much more.

What do you think will be the most important attendee takeaways from this year’s conference?

We hope that our sessions will help business owners and marketing professions gather all the tools they need in order to create a working social media strategy and have fun while doing it! We have sessions on everything from the best tools to use on social media, to the importance of KPIs, Instagram strategy, chatbots, advertising, and how having fun in business leads not only to more dramatic results in whatever we do, but also to a more fulfilling life.

What is session is your team the most excited about?

We’re excited about ALL of our sessions! Our three-day conference will be jam-packed with information, but we also want to share the importance of having fun in life! That’s why we brought in keynote speaker and New York Times best-selling author, Joel Comm to talk about The Fun Formula: How Curiosity, Risk-Taking and Serendipity Can Revolutionize the Way You Work.

How do your overall agenda tie into this year’s global theme?

We’ll be weaving the importance of stories throughout many of our talks this year.

Which partners or brands are you most excited to be working with this year?

We’re excited to work with KIND Snacks again. We love their mission to help make the world a little kinder. Their KIND Foundation “aims to foster kinder and more empathetic communities. Its mission is brought to life through a variety of programming meant to celebrate and inspire positive action”.

BusyKid is a new app that allows kids to turn chores and allowance into a stock portfolio, a savings account, a charitable cause to support and/or a prepaid VISA Spend debit card.

What are some local trends you are seeing in your market?

We’re seeing significant use of Facebook groups. This largely in part due to Facebook’s response to their security breaches, in addition to consumers seeking a sense of community. This applies not only to their personal lives but to the businesses they choose. Through Facebook, business owners have an incredible opportunity to control and leverage that community through groups.

What are some of the key questions that will be addressed during your edition of SMW?

We will be addressing the following key questions during SMW Coeur d’Alene:

  • Is Facebook dead?
  • How can a small brand utilize influencer marketing?
  • As a business owner, what do I need to know to run my own social media marketing?
