2013 Event Submission Now Open;
Organizers Focus on Advanced Content, Hands-On Programming
Social media, mobile and digital experts from Chicagoland and beyond will gather this September 23-26 as Zócalo Group and Chicago Tribune Media Group’s 435 Digital host Social Media Week Chicago 2013. Part of a global initiative to explore the cultural and economic impact of social media, the event will highlight expert discussions, workshops and networking opportunities. Most events will be free and open to the public.
Now in its third year, Social Media Week Chicago has successfully put the Windy City on the map as a leader in the global social, digital and mobile conversation. In 2012, the 5-day event featured an impressive lineup of 95 free educational and networking sessions, spread across 40 venues, with more than 250 speakers and 16,000 registrations.
More than just a conference, Social Media Week is one of the world’s most unique events. Through a series of interconnected activities across the world, this year’s Social Media Week offers a global conversation focused on the theme Open & Connected: Principles for a Collaborative World. Along with the Social Media Week in Chicago, similar events will take place simultaneously in Barcelona, Berlin, Bogotá, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, São Paulo, Torino and Toronto.

In response to participant demand for sessions with advanced discussion and more hands-on opportunities, organizers will present a more condensed event over 4 days, with a focus on master class-level workshops taught by social media thought leaders. Social Media Week Chicago will involve area companies, national brands, academic institutions, non-profit organizations and government agencies. Events will cover a variety of topic areas including business & brands, technology & innovation, arts & entertainment, and government & social policy.
