The Advisory Board members agreed that they are looking forward to hearing how other companies and individuals are effectively using social media to transform their business. Christine Mallari of Chicago Public Schools mentioned how important it is to examine how what works for one organization might not work for another, and why that is. Hassan Ali Khan, SVP of marketing at The Onion, agreed he would like to “learn how other companies use social platforms in different but effective ways.”
Social Media Week convenes a diverse and innovative group of speakers, panelists and attendees that not only learn from each other, but also create meaningful connections in the social space. Kristin Barrett, director of partner relations at the Chicago Innovation Exchange, cites networking as one of the top reasons she is excited to be a part of Social Media Week Chicago.
Others are eagerly anticipating SMW Chicago because of the Windy City itself. Andy Sternberg from Rotary International said he’s ready to “reconnect with digital Chicago after ten years in Los Angeles.”
