The 14 Stages You’ll Experience Applying For The SMW Chicago Scholarship

Social Media Week

Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.

Here at Social Media Week Chicago, we recognize that buying a pass is not an affordable option for everyone, and because SMW is built on a philosophy of openness and inclusivity, students and non-profits may apply to attend SMW Chicago through our Scholarship Program.

Accepted applicants receive a complimentary Campus Pass for sessions at the official venue, The Merchandise Mart, which includes keynotes, panels and masterclasses, as well as co-working spaces, interactive installations, and networking areas.

Applying to school, jobs, grants, and other types of scholarships can be a roller-coaster ride, and sometimes, GIFs speak much louder than words when trying to explain to your friends and classmates what it actually feels like applying to the SMW Chicago Scholarship Program…

First, you discover this incredible opportunity exists

And how your day, week, or entire year could have been ruined had you not seen it…

But before you get too excited, you remember you still need to apply

You think about grabbing some food or going to class early…

On second thought, you realize you’d be thinking about your application the entire time anyway

OK, it doesn’t look too bad, and you’re feeling pretty confident

You picture yourself sitting front row in a masterclass session…

And all the industry leaders you’ll shake hands with

You can already taste the coffee waiting for you at The Merchandise Mart

As you fill in your information, and answer the application questions…

You double-check your work, click “Submit” and can hardly wait to hear back

But at the end of the day, you know you made a great decision by applying

You take one more look at the schedule and speakers to validate your decision…

And now just sit back, be patient, and hope you’re accepted… Easy, right?

And if you’re still waiting to apply and experience all these emotions, you can click here to access the Scholarship Program application. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, November 4th. Best of luck!
