Storytelling with NatGeo: What You’ll Learn From the Iconic Brand at #SMWChicago
Register for #SMWChicago, which takes place this November 15-18 bringing together leaders from media, marketing, entertainment, and technology.
National Geographic is known around the globe for its leadership in visually compelling, factual and entertaining storytelling.
On Thursday, November 17 at #SMWChicago, Claudia Malley, Chief Marketing Brand Officer, National Geographic, will share insights and learnings on how a 128 year-old brand has become one of the most successful publishers in a fragmented media landscape. View the session here!
Joining Claudia on stage will be Aaron Huey, a National Geographic photographer whose stories have included topics as diverse as hitchhiking the 6,000-mile Trans-Siberian highway to sharks in French Polynesia, and from Montana’s cowboys to trekking the Salcantay trail to Machu Picchu.
His stories are a mix of extreme adventures (such as his 3,400-mile, 154-day solo walk across America) and intimate essays about unique cultures around the world, from the Georgian Caucasus to the Indian Reservations of the United States. Aaron’s work has also appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, the New York Times, Newsweek, Time, and Smithsonian.
Earlier in the year at #SMWLA, Claudia discussed content saturation and the need to invest in a global network of storytellers, which you can get a preview of in the video below.
NatGeo boasts over 750 million followers across various social media platforms, and #SMWChicago attendees will learn some of the ways the iconic brand continues to stay relevant and timely in such a complicated media ecosystem.
Since 1888, NatGeo has shared amazing stories with each new generation, from critical expeditions and scientific fieldwork, to geography education for students and cultural conservation. NatGeo aims to inspire audiences through new media, vibrant exhibitions, and live events, and at #SMWChicago, they’re bringing this industry expertise straight to the Social Media Week stage.
Register here to join us for Social Media Week Chicago, which returns this November 15-18 where Chicago’s leaders in media, entertainment, and technology will come together for an incredible week of events and learning.
