Functional, well-designed websites are no longer the province of big brands, now small businesses from restaurants to hair salons have best-in-class web experiences. Even personal wedding websites or art portfolio sites are designed and developed by utilizing a series of tools that create a top-notch experience for users.
But with so much good internet in the world today, the team that brings you the Webby Awards, the most prestigious Internet award have started to think about what this means for those of us who are responsible for creating experiences intended to reach 100s of thousands or millions of consumers. As the differential in the range of good and bad web experience narrows and small businesses are creating web experiences on par with big brands – how do we continue to develop work that breaks out and reaches the masses?
Internet or Die is about the concept that the bar is higher than ever and how the modern Internet forces us to create truly original experiences or suffer the consequence of being overlooked. This discussion looks four key areas of examples that should be guiding principals in the work that is created today in order for that work to stand out – some based on an extensive Harris poll study and some in the technological trends from the Webby’s unique vantage point.
In this session, Toby Daniels, Founder and Executive Director of Social Media Week will be joined on stage by David-Michel Davies, CEO at Webby Media Group and Executive Director of The Webby Awards.
