In 2016 Facebook passed the 1.71 billion mark for monthly active users on phones, tablets and computers. Social media is changing the way people get their information about local businesses. Consumers look to social media for recommendations from friends and family. Businesses need to embrace social media since that is where a lot of their customers are and build an online relationship with these customers. Social media allows local businesses to communicate directly with their customers and build loyalty.
Twitter is still one of the top social media channels for engaging in personal conversations with your community. Geo-located searches in Twitter make it easy to find potential customers in your area or a specific geographic radius. But finding them is just the beginning, what really matters is the quality of the conversation that you initiate with the people you find.
A MarketingLand Nielsen study showed that nearly half of visitors to a business’ mobile site will look up the location of the business, and then 39% will pick up the phone and call. If you’re looking to increase customer visits to your brick-and-mortar location, those results are compelling — particularly when compared against the results garnered by traditional media.
