Introduction to the world of “Indoor Vertical Farming” in urban communities. Join us for a journey from Hydroponic gardens of Babylon to the prospects of Urban Vertical Farming in Hamburg today. Our first Urban Vertical Farm is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2016. We have successfully developed our proprietary technology with international partners. We will grow a large variety of crops with zero pesticides and herbicides. Our farm will be using 80% less water compared to conventional greenhouses and 95% compared to open field agriculture and at the same time 60% less fertilizer.
By creating our first local community farm, we will deliver daily, freshly harvested portions of highly nutritious greens.
This talk will be a discussion on the topic of how we will achieve year round availability of clean, sustainably grown, nutrient rich, tasty greens in metropolitan areas around the globe. In todays grocery world the consumer is ignored in the decision making process dominated by large retailers across the globe. Taste, nutrient content and clean crops farmed in a sustainable way are not relevant factors in organizing large scale production of greens today. Its all about look, shelf live and price. Farmers Cut will be a local game changer by delivering directly to local consumers a broad range of crops, some of them long forgotten local varieties that will reappear in our diets.
