Naija Rescue App Set to Make Strides Toward Safety for Nigerians
Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.
From the #ChibokGirls kidnappings to the increasing visibility of violence in Jos, Abuja and elsewhere around the country, there is a need for grassroots level interventions to ensure the safety of Nigerians.
A new app, the Naija Rescue App, or 9RA – billed as “Nigeria’s First App for Friends & Family Safety”– may very well be the tool that was needed! The personal safety application aims to make Nigerians safer with the touch of one button!
Through 9RA, developed by Delgem Incorporation, users can complete a host of tasks including sending emergency alert s when in danger, calling and taking notes for authorities, sharing their location using email, Facebook, Twitter or SMS text and more with the click of a button. The app can act as an emergency alert device, personal location tracker and incident reporting tool.
9RA boasts an easy user experience and the ability to bring communities together to keep citizens safe. Not only does the app encourage increased connections among community members, it also interfaces with social media networks and other popular applications like Google Maps in a smart way!
The app is available for free in the Google Play marketplace, for Android devices..
