#SMWLagosAtJHB Exclusive: Q&A with Trevor Stuurman
Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.
Our correspondent Siya Moringe caught up with one of South Africa’s leading IGers, Trevor Stuurman, Elle SA Style reporter, celebrated creative director, filmmaker, photographer, and blogger.
HOW DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR SELF-EXPRESSION?
I guess social media is expression. For me, each and every avenue or medium that I am involved in basically ends up on Instagram. It has become like a website for me, where I don’t necessarily have different tabs but my world has different spaces on Instagram. For example if I am working on a film I can have like a 15 sec video of an EPK. If am working on an editorial shoot I can have behind the scenes and the actual editorial shot on my Instagram account. That has become the curated website for me.
WHAT ARE YOU FUTURE PLANS ON INSTAGRAM?
My future plans is to establish a company and that would solidify my brand and that would enable me to take on bigger tenders and for me to have a creative stance in a corporate space.
ARE YOU GOING TO BE HERE FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK?
Yes. Looking forward.
