Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.
The Women in Tech Startup Alley was curated by She Leads Africa and supported by Dangote group. The program kicked off with a keynote speech from Halima Dangote, executive director, Dangote Industries Limited. Four women-led technology companies also had the opportunity to pitch their businesses and demo their product.
Here’s a roundup of the startups that presented:
Smarthire – Smarthire is an online technology platform that connects businesses to skilled freelancers. It is driven by the mission to transform the way organisations hire for IT and skilled freelancers.
GoMyWay Africa – According to their website, GoMyWay is a ride-sharing marketplace connecting passengers with ride owners going along the same route and have empty seats to spare. It offers you the cheapest and more convenient way to travel on long-distance trips across the country or simply to commute within your city. Besides significantly reducing your travel costs (whether as a passenger or ride owner), you get to make new friends, meet potential business partners and conveniently arrive at your destination. You also get to contribute to protecting the environment.
Roomies Connect – On their online profiles, Roomies Connect describes itself as a premier roommate finding portal covering Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and more African countries. It is a web platform that helps people in finding other people with the same habits/lifestyle to share accommodations, with the right search tools, users are empowered to make the right choice.
ST HUB LIMITED – According to founder Stephanie Obi’s LinkedIn page, ST Hub is an online business school for Experts (Coaches, Authors, CEOs, Leaders, Service Entrepreneurs, Consultants, Speakers, Influencers and Role Models), which coaches highly motivated individuals on how to turn their message to an online business.
