Social Media Week

Social Media Week is a leading news platform and worldwide conference that curates and shares the best ideas and insights into social media and technology's impact on business, society, and culture.

Asktoks.com enlisted the help of Imisi3D to discuss Virtual reality, the prospects and its application in helping autism.

For the first time, Nigerians can see and experience the world the way autistic individuals experience it. The 3D gear and the experience was designed with the help of the software engineers working at Imisi3D. Nigeria especially has a serious problem dealing with medical challenges. With limited amounts of doctors and high costs of medical services, many have turned to religious leaders to help with the diagnosis and treatments of health problems.

It becomes worse with autistic children that feel a wider range of emotions, different from what other children feel. Such children and sometimes their parents are ostracized from the society leading to the families taking drastic but irrational steps towards ridding themselves of those children and the stigma. The autistic children are almost always unable to lead happy lives or fulfill their potential.

Asktoks and Imisi3D are doing important work to help improve healthcare access. First by providing data and sensitivity to the public about autism. Asktoks is a specialist consultancy agency, providing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) services to children with developmental disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
