The Access Nigeria project brings together several Civil Society Organisations working towards liberating government and public data for use by the public. The aim is use various locally developed OpenGov Tech tools that leverage government data to enlighten and engage the public about governance issues in Nigeria. These tools cover a range of topics from tracking the fight against corruption, to mapping Police Stations in the city of Lagos, to vault for storing all freedom of information requests and responses, to a platforms that tells the best method to contact federal legislators. These tools, all built locally, will give Nigerians access to the govt and the event will explore new ways that citizens are reaching and connecting to government at various levels.
Access Nigeria: Connecting Citizens to Government Using Technology is for active citizens interested in engaging government and civil society organisations and policy makers interested in how technology can be used to bridge the gap in how citizen and government interact and interface.
Participants will get a chance to interact with senior government officials and civic leaders who are working to connect citizens and government and give everyday Nigerians a chance to give their perspectives to governance issues..
This event will be hosted by BudgIT Nigeria and other Access Nigeria Project partners CLEEN Foundation, Public and Private Development Centre, CDD West AFrica, Institute for War and Peace Reporting, IWPR and Partners for Democratic Change, Washington
