Reading Culture, Book Publishing and Social Media will be a panel discussion to consider the changing nature of literary publication, marketing and readership in Africa in the digital age. The panel will discuss the emergence of new forms of book production, marketing and distribution and the impact of these changes from an economic perspective. How has social media changed the face of book publishing and the reading culture? What is the preference of contemporary stakeholders? Can social media be used efficiently in the African literary market? The panel will feature digital and traditional book publishers, as well as writers and readers. Participants are expected to have a broadened perspective on the literary side of social media, particularly in the development and promotion of writers and publishers. Participants can also contribute their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of being a reader in a social media generation.
