Tech Tuesday by The London Book Fair is a meet-up showcasing social media successes in the publishing industry, focussing particularly on authors. We have CJ Daugherty, young adult author confirmed to share her with the audience important lessons learnt and her successes with social media. A former crime reporter, political, and travel writer, she is best known for The Night School Series, translated into 20 languages. Alison Norrington, transmedia producer and storyteller comes primarily from a chick-lit/rom-com background. She will explain how to deliver reading and writing in new and exciting ways, on a variety of devices, and extending story worlds and fictional universes over territories, timelines and platforms. She is the author of four novels, a playwright, journalist and PhD student currently researching Transmedia Storytelling – Emerging Platforms for Writers, Fragmented Interaction & Pervasive Media… We will also be introducing up-and-coming author James Smythe. James has been compared to literary greats such as Ian McEwan, J.M Coetzee, David Mitchell and Kazuo Ishiguro, and recently won the Wales Book of the Year Novel category for The Testimony. A keen blogger James is an active purveyor for the Guardian online, which is consistently one of their most commented-on blogs. He is also incredibly active on social media, particularly Twitter (@jpsmythe), where he has built a great fan base among bloggers and reviewers by interacting at a grass roots level. In addition we are delighted to welcome critically acclaimed horror, thriller and YA author, Sarah Pinborough. Keeping it all together our Chair for the evening is the wonderful Katie Sadler, The Digital Marketing Manager HarperCollins Fiction. Katie joined the team at HarperCollins after five years at Random House. Previous to that she was a digital media buyer and planner for Mindshare, part of Group M. She now works in the HarperFiction team as digital marketing manager, working across everything from George R R Martin to digital first romance imprint HarperImpulse.
