Practical tips on engaging with digital natives, with a focus on young talent acquisition. BIMA (the British Interactive Media Association) has for the past four years been running a digital careers programme in UK schools. This session explores BIMA’s research findings, with an expert panel sharing their views and answering questions on what this means for your organisation.”

Millennials are perfectly suited to a career working in the digital and creative industries… if only they knew it!

There is a lack of awareness of a career in the digital and creative industries, and unless brands and agencies do something about this, our businesses are about to miss out on the next generation of talent that should be walking through our doors. This session will do two things:

  1. Share front line insights from industry leaders about why there is a problem in attracting young people into our industry and;
  2. Share insights into how we go about retaining this nebulous group of people branded “millennials”, who the world is only just getting to know.

Insights will include Millennials’ attitudes towards the digital industry and why there is a pressing need to address this challenge and their attitudes towards physical and digital spaces, brands and celebrity, privacy, social responsibility, social media and other channels, creativity and culture, all of which will influence how you recruit and retain this next generation.

This panel is made up of agency and brand leaders who spend much of their working day working with and developing solutions for Millennials. Through their work on brands andsocial initiatives such as BIMA’s Digital Day, the panel have developed strong insights into the millennial mind. This session will share some of those insights with a particular focus on recruitment and retention in the workplace.

As well as leading their own successful teams and businesses, many of the panel members sit on BIMA’s Executive Committee. BIMA is the voice of British digital, representing over 300 brands and agencies in the UK, existing to do four key things…

  • Support and promote the British digital industry
  • Share knowledge and best practice
  • Reward great work
  • Encourage the next generation
